Solar Strategies

Independent commercial solar advisory

Commercial solar decisions, made on the numbers

Solar Strategies is an independent consultancy for UK businesses, developers and the public sector. We turn a commercial solar decision into a defensible business case — feasibility, ROI modelling, procurement, PPA and net-zero strategy — without ever selling you a panel.

Independent

We don't sell or install — no product bias

B2B only

Board-ready

Advice built for a capital decision

Independent by design

We hold no supplier relationships, commissions or product lines. The only thing we sell is impartial advice — so our feasibility work can, and sometimes does, tell you not to proceed.

Built for the business case

Every recommendation is grounded in your own load data, tariffs and cost of capital, modelled net of capital allowances. Finance gets numbers it can interrogate, not a headline payback.

The whole decision, not just the panels

Feasibility, funding, procurement, delivery oversight and reporting — we cover the full arc of a commercial solar programme, from the first question to the figures in your SECR return.

What we do

Advisory services

How we work

A methodology, not a sales pitch

01

Discovery

We start with your objectives, estate and constraints — the sites in scope, your load and tariffs, the capital available and the carbon or reporting goals driving the decision.

02

Feasibility

Desktop and on-site assessment of each site: roof or land capacity, structural loading, shading, yield and grid headroom — producing an honest go / no-go on viability.

03

Business case

We model capex, opex and return on your own data, net of capital allowances, and set out the funding options — outright purchase, lease or PPA — as a board-ready case.

04

Procurement

We write the specification, run a fair tender and evaluate bids on a weighted scorecard, so you appoint the right installer on genuinely comparable, auditable terms.

05

Delivery assurance

As your client-side adviser we oversee installation, commissioning and hand-over against the specification — holding the contractor to the standard you paid for.

06

Optimisation & reporting

After switch-on we monitor performance against the model and produce the carbon and cost evidence your SECR and ESG reporting needs — refining as tariffs and technology change.

What good looks like

Illustrative of the outcomes we work toward on a commercial solar engagement — the deliverables, not a promise of specific figures.

A board paper that survives scrutiny

A capital case grounded in your own data, with the assumptions and risks laid out for finance to interrogate.

A tender where every bid is comparable

One specification, priced by every bidder on equal terms — so you choose on value, not on who wrote the nicest quote.

The funding route that fits your balance sheet

Outright purchase, lease or PPA, chosen on the numbers and your cost of capital — with the contract terms understood.

Carbon savings you can actually report

Evidence in a form your SECR and ESG reporting can use, linking the capital case to the carbon case.

Questions our clients ask first

Does Solar Strategies install solar panels?

No. We're an independent consultancy. We advise on commercial solar and manage the process for you, but we don't sell or install hardware — so our advice carries no product bias.

Who do you work with?

UK businesses, property developers and public-sector organisations — from single sites to multi-site estates across commercial, industrial, agricultural and education property.

How is this different from an installer's free survey?

An installer's survey is the first step in selling you their system. Our feasibility work is independent and can recommend against a project — the goal is the right decision, not a sale.

Do you advise on solar PPAs?

Yes. We model outright purchase, lease and power purchase agreement (PPA) routes, and review PPA terms before you sign, so the funding decision is as considered as the technical one.

Where do you operate?

Across England, Scotland and Wales. We work remotely and on site as each project needs — this is a national advisory practice, not a local installer.

Weighing a commercial solar decision?

Tell us about your organisation and the site or estate you're considering. We'll set up a consultation and show you how the numbers stack up — with no obligation and nothing to sell you.
